TMAJ Client Setup
All you need to do to setup a TMAJ client is install the Java Runtime
Enviroment. See below for notes on how to accomplish this.
Installing Java 6
Windows Users:
- Download
the
Java Runtime Environment (This enables you to run Java
applications, and includes Java Web Start)
- Run the executable file on your computer.
- Accept the license agreement and use the default options for
installation.
Linux/ Solaris Users:
- Go to Download J2SE Page
- Locate the section for Java Runtime Enviroment (JRE) click the
download link.
- Accept the license agreement.
- Download the appropriate file based on your operating system
(for example, linux)
- Execute the file you downloaded.
MacOS Users:
You shouldn't have to do anything to run a TMAJ client. Java
comes preinstalled on the Macintosh.
You may, however, only have Java 1.4 instead of Java 5.
TMAJ requires Java 5 or later. If you only have Java 1.4 or
earlier, Java
WebStart will give you an error when you try to click on the "Start
TMAJ" link. You must have MacOS 10.4 or later to install Java 5,
and use TMAJ.
If you do not have Java 5 or later installed on your Mac, it may be
downloaded
from:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/
In the search box, type in:
j2se (This stands for Java 2 Standard Edition.)
You will be looking for the latest version of Java 6. Make sure
you download for the appropriate processor type (Power PC or Intel).
