public class SteppedComboBox
extends javax.swing.JComboBox

A ComboBox that allows the popup dialog to be wider than the actual ComboBox. This is useful if one of the items in the ComboBox is especially long. The popup width is set by using the setPopupWidth(int w) method. By default, the preferred-width of a ComboBox is wide enough to allow the longest element to be displayed, which is a waste of space. It is recommended to set the popup width to the preferred-width of the comboBox, and set the actual ComboBox width to something shorter.
